Experience climbing Mount Kenya for 5 Days using the Sirimon Route

On the first day, you will leave Nairobi by public means accompanied by a guard from a tour company of your choice. You will arrive in Nanyuki in time for lunch. The rest of the day will be spent acclimatizing due to the sudden change in the altitude. You will spend the night at a hotel in Nanyuki where you will have diner too. On the second day, you will be transferred from the Nanyuki hotel after having breakfast to the Sirimon gate where the climbing will start. You will walk through the rain forest for 9 km to the first mountain hut- old Moses for dinner and an overnight stay. This is a five hour walk. Old Moses is 3300 m above sea level.

After breakfast at old Moses, you will continue climbing through Mackinders Valley to the second hut Shipton Hut. This is 4200m above sea level. Here you will have diner and a well deserved overnight stay. On the fourth day, early in the morning, you will climb to point Lenana which is 4985 m above sea level. On a clear day, you should be able to see the Indian Ocean to the East, Mt. Elgon to the west, and Mt Kilimanjaro to the South of Mt Elgon.

You will thereafter descend to Shimpton camp where you will have the main breakfast. You will then descend to old Moses for the night. In the morning after breakfast at the Old Moses, you will go back to Nanyuki town where you will catch a bus back to Nairobi.
